what makes a piece of paper become art? the artist’s decision? a white cube exhibition? how about if seven random people, who don’t know each other, agree that it should be so? this letter invites the recipient to continue the chain only on the condition that he or she agrees with it becoming art on arrival to its destination.

there has been sent two versions, one in december 2008 in switzerland, the other in january 2009.  so far none of them arrived….

this action between art, prank and social psychology is all about whether people are ready to take the risk of opposing a majority in order to have some innocent fun and what it takes to change their mind…

i chose the format of a pseudo-scientific experiment in order to have a little fun in hot august barcelona and by the way study a little bit of human behaviour, decision making and aspects of interactivity and participation…

this is kind of a commercial project ;-). the idea is to produce and actually sell in shops a wallpaper of the landscape of manets “dejeuner sur l’herbe”, without the characters represented in the original painting. the aim is to give the posibility for the “home user” to create his own dejeuner-sur-l’herbe-situation at home and make art part of his/her every day life… or rather transform his/her every day life into art?

free-your-idea.net is a project that came out of my participation in the seminar “kunst als handlungsfeld” (art as field of action) at the Universität der Künste, Berlin, in wintersemester 06/07.

it is now in the final fase and we hope to relsease it in the first week of july.

free-your-idea.net is a platform for exchange and  distributet collaboration. it is aswell a copylefted idea-database, and therefore a source of inspiration. and  it hopefully will become a community of people involved in art, that like to try new ways of collaboration on an international level.

[ the webring in google hell ]

visibility online can be a disatvantage… you loose privacy and your uncensored publish ing might create some… uhm… missunderstandings? 
sometimes it might be intressting to not appear in the top positions of a google search and sometimes it is just a question of mentality to prefer to stay underground…

the web in google hell is about that: to make a specific page disappear in the supplemental indexes of googles search results (you know, that link on the last page of the results, that says “repeat the search with the omitted results included”…)

so if you are in doubt wether to publish some content that may have a unwanted effect on your reputation… publish it and add it to the webring in google hell ;-)

[ ofelia - a veces (ophelia - sometimes) ]

this is kind of a capture of moments of anxiety and struggle when dealing with my identity as a woman, moments when the definition of “woman” suddenly becomes to narrow or confusing. like ophelia i sometimes feel like drowning when i don´t see the light at the end of the tunnel and i guess it happens to lots of people (women and men) when dealing with concepts of gender between tradition and actuallity…

with the seagull-pix i also did a digital project, i’m still working on it actually. the references are: emergence and complexity, regularity and its modulations, symmetry…

[ ver la gaviota en la nube (to see the seagull in the cloud) ]

an installation with a hint of gestalt: the law of emergence allows to see a cloud formed by the seagulls – in opposition to the childrens game of recognizing animal-shapes in the clouds (which would correspond the law of prägnanz).

the elements are photocopies of seagull motives, stuck to the wall with transparent tape, the installation is accompanied by a ventilator that moves the elemnts in intervals.
the measures are: 160 x 120 cm approx.

[ bodyparts ]

so this is about identity and how the physical influences the psycological or social: living in a city changes you, the mere physical disposition of a town has an influence on you. i wanted to make a temporary change in this town by representation of my physical presence.

this project came out of the nuclear cloud one i made in berlin. back in mediterrean barcelona it had to be a more lighthearted approach, though ;-).

the location here was particulary nice…
