a girl called adam is eva michalcak who got sick of hearing “oh, nice to meet you, my name is adam!” when ever she got presented at a party….

eva michalcak starts her artistic activity as an autodidact in collaborative multimedia projects. in 1994 she starts together with other artists from diverse backgrounds the collective “i love u multimedia”. the group is principally dedicated to organizing platforms where different media and formats are confronted. for example in 1997 they set up the “i love u” e-zine , a monthly art edition in internet and in 1999 a radio show dedicated to new electronic music.
between 1997 and 2001 eva produces almost exclusively digital work, a lot of it in the Internet (http://www.agirlcalledadam.net/web.html).
in 2001 the collective “i love u” is invited to the “c-front” conference on digital art and communication in bulgaria where a follower project emerges: “mediaterra kitchen” is developed exclusively over the web, without physical meetings of the participants.
in 2000 eva moves to Barcelona and starts an artistic reorientation that takes her first to painting and then towards installation.
in 2004 she graduates as a technician of arts applied to the wall at the massana school. in the same year she spends two months as guest student of painting with professor stanislav divis at the academy for art, architecture and design in prague, she obtains the studio scholarship “off massana” for two years and starts her studies at the fine arts faculty of the university of barcelona, where she is studying to date. from cctober 2006 to february 2007 she stays as an exchange student in the class of annette haas, at the universität der künste, berlin.
